Sanding and plastic applying...

Arrived at Final Finish in Branford, CT where Ken will prep the car for painting. I'll be helping in sanding, masking, etc...

The fenders were badly folded at the rear. I've straighten them up, now it's time for Ken to do the plastic.

Fenders are primed.

I've sanded the entire car with a pneumatic orbital sander set at low speed.

Back together...

Starting to put things back together to drive the car to the body shop...

Ready to go. I'm happy to see the car back to her original shape and happy to drive it again.

Sealing the welds and sound deadening...

Working on getting the parts ready for the rear lights.

I've used a brush on sealer to seal the welds.

This sealer comes as strips (3M) and can be coated.

I've used a spray on sound deadening material.

In the trunk it lifted the paint. I will redo it but will not use sound deadening. It is better anyway to monitor eventual rust developing.

The car is ready to be put together.

Finished welding the back plate.

The sway bar area is beautiful and rust free; rare on a DS.

The sound deadening material has a tendency to keep moisture underneath and hide rust...

... in this case only surface rust.

Cleaned and ready to be primed.

Next: Paint.

I've used self-etching primer first on all bare meat areas.
