Right inner fender...

Ready to cut the inner fender part.

Like the other side, I'm keeping the gutter.

This screw was my reference point.

I had to remove the reinforcement because of its wrong angle and placement...

... As well as the bumper bracket.

Ready to be tacked.

Checking for alignment and fender fitting.

Re-installing the parts at their proper place.

After completing the welding, I've tackled the gutter.

Done.

Welded this part on the other side.

... And finished the gutter on the left side.

Left inner fender...

This part was very difficult since everything is rounded and it is very tough to take measurements.

The gutters did not match so I had to take the entire gutter from the new part but take part of the old inner fender.

I could only cut once, so I spent a lot of time of matching and checking, etc...

The angle of the new part did not match the angle on the car (Longeron). I've used this tool to help me.

The car is ready to receive the new part.

I made sure that all parts will work together at the end, so I've assembled them temporarily.

I've used the fender from my '66 to see how the fender would fit in the future.

I've spot welded the bar to make sure that it will not move during assembly and welding.

Checking how the trunk would fit later.

Right "longeron"

This part was not too difficult since it is straight and fairly easy to do measurements.

I used corner rail for proper alignment.

This part was a little difficult to align. Removing the old metal was challenging.

Deconstruction...

Time to start the project left off in 2008...

This is the inside of the rear cross member where the trunk lid closes onto. A good photo to show the advantage of rustproofing a DS. I've rustproofed this car since I owned it and she stayed outside since 2008. Only some surface rust is visible. OK, this was a rust free car to start with.

A good cleaning before cutting.

Again, I rustproof the car every year and the bumper bracket stayed in very good shape.

The sway bar cover (Inside).

The sway bar area; not a hint of rust.

Cutting the "longeron" out...

Now I'm ready to rebuild the rear area.
